How does Belta answer my questions?

Belta inspects your database schema, writes the SQL your question requires, and executes it live against your data, strictly read-only. The answer streams back in real time, and Belta picks the clearest way to present it: a chart, a sortable table, a map, or a downloadable file, depending on what you asked for. You never need to know SQL, table names, or column names.

What outputs can I get?

Belta renders bar, line, pie, and area charts, sortable interactive tables, and maps for geographic data. When you need something to share, it generates Excel, Word, PDF, and PowerPoint files you can download straight from the chat.

Does Belta only build reports?

Accepted Answer

No. Alongside the charts, tables, maps, and files, Belta reads the results and comments like a colleague would: it summarizes what the numbers show, highlights trends and anomalies, and suggests what may deserve a closer look. It points things out rather than deciding for you, and every answer still shows the data behind it, so you can check anything important.

How accurate are the answers?

Belta runs real queries against your live database, so the numbers come from your data, not from the model's memory. That said, an AI can misread an ambiguous question or choose an unexpected interpretation, so every answer shows the data behind it for you to inspect. For important decisions, we recommend verifying the result the same way you would any report. And because access is strictly read-only, exploring freely never puts your data at risk.

Which databases are supported?

DataBelta supports six engines: Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, Supabase, and Google BigQuery. If your data lives somewhere else, you can also work directly from uploaded Excel or CSV files.

Question 7

We run an ERP / CRM / online store. Can DataBelta read it?

Accepted Answer

Almost certainly. Those systems all store their data in a database. If it runs on SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, Supabase, or BigQuery, DataBelta connects to it directly. If it uses something else, you can upload an Excel or CSV export (up to 50 MB) and query that instead. We confirm exactly what fits your setup in the demo call.

I don't have a database. Can I still use DataBelta?

Yes. Upload an Excel (.xlsx) or CSV file up to 50 MB and each sheet becomes a queryable table, powered by an in-memory engine. You then ask questions about the file exactly as you would about a live database, with the same strict read-only rules applied. The original file is stored server-side for your workspace so you can keep querying it.

Can the AI modify my data?

No, and not just as a policy, but by construction. The AI's tool set contains no write tool at all; the query tool rejects any statement that does not start with SELECT; and the file-upload engine separately allows only SELECT, PRAGMA, and WITH statements while blocking all writes. Access is strictly read-only, enforced at every layer, so there is no code path through which Belta could insert, update, or delete anything.

Does DataBelta copy or mirror my database?

No. DataBelta never copies or mirrors your database; every query runs live against your source at the moment you ask. What we store is your chat history: Belta's answers, which may embed the result rows you explicitly asked for, so you can revisit past conversations.

How are my database credentials stored?

Accepted Answer

Credentials are encrypted with AES-256-CBC using a fresh random IV for every secret, and the encryption key lives in server configuration, never alongside the data. Crucially, no API response ever returns a password: once saved, nobody can view your credentials again, including DataBelta staff.

Question 12

Who can see my data?

Accepted Answer

Only members of your workspace. Every workspace is fully isolated, and all data (chats, connections, uploads, generated files) is scoped to it. You control who is invited in. To generate answers, your questions and Belta's responses are processed by our AI provider, Moonshot AI; the full list of subprocessors is published in our privacy policy.

Question 13

Do you support two-factor authentication?

Yes. You can enable 2FA with either a one-time code sent to your email or an authenticator app. Beyond that, every account requires email confirmation before first login, passwords are hashed with industry-standard PBKDF2, five failed sign-in attempts trigger a lockout, and sessions last up to 30 days before you sign in again.

What happens when I delete my account?

Deletion starts a 7-day grace period during which you can change your mind. After that, everything is permanently and irreversibly deleted: your data, generated files, and uploaded files included. Nothing is archived once the grace period ends.

How long do generated files live?

Accepted Answer

Files Belta generates for you (Excel, Word, PDF, PowerPoint) are automatically deleted after 24 hours. If you want to keep one, save it explicitly and it stays available in your workspace.

Question 16

Can I ask questions in my own language?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Belta understands questions in any language and answers in the language you use: ask in Spanish and the answer comes back in Spanish, ask in French and it replies in French. There is nothing to configure.

Is Arabic fully supported?

Yes, fully, including right-to-left rendering. Belta understands Arabic questions and answers in Arabic. You can see it live in the demo at the top of this page, which alternates between English and Arabic.
